Salvete!

Today…. we have a review of a book I liked. Thereโ€™s really nothing else to it ๐Ÿ™ƒ

๐Ÿ’žspoiler free!๐Ÿ’ž

๐ŸŒŸAge Group: Juvenile๐ŸŒŸ

Summary (Libbyโ€™s):

Everyone knows there are different kind of teachers. The boring ones, the mean ones, the ones who try too hard, the ones who stopped trying a long time ago. The ones youโ€™ll never remember, and the ones youโ€™ll never forget.

Ms. Bixby is none of these. Sheโ€™s the sort of teacher who makes you feel like school is actually worthwhile. Who recognizes something in you that sometimes you donโ€™t even see in yourself. Who you never want to disappoint. What Ms. Bixby is, is one of a kind.

Topher, Brand, and Steve know this better than anyone. And so when Ms. Bixby unexpectedly announces she wonโ€™t be able to finish the school year, they come up with a risky planโ€”more of a quest, reallyโ€”to give Ms. Bixby the last day she deserves.

The dual point of views (three of โ€˜em!) were wonderful with telling the story and weaving it together.

The characters themselves were exciting to follow and find out about, even with the book being a more โ€œslice-of-lifeโ€ sort of genre, and not a fantasy.

I really loved the insight to why exactly the trio were so determined to give Ms. Bixby that perfect last day. (because of Brand and some hotdogs ๐Ÿ˜‰)

It really pained me to see… ahem… someone do something. (No spoilers ๐Ÿ˜)

This book is honestly so relatable somehow, even though the characters are completely and obviously fictional.

And I loved all the extra bits, like the โ€œMichelleโ€™sโ€ cakery (I made that word up ๐Ÿ˜) being owned by Eduardo.

To quote Topher, โ€œThe details matter,โ€ and the author doesnโ€™t leave us hanging! John David Anderson is an excellent author, and I โœจdare sayโœจ that this is one of his best books. (Thought my favorite is definitely Sidekicked ๐Ÿ˜†)

I thought it was funny how Topher and Steve were longtime friends, and then Brand just appeared, like hi, I exsist. ๐Ÿ˜‚

*cough cough* Topher and Steve are so cute together *cough cough*

This book has my stamp of approval ๐Ÿ˜‚

10/10 recommend!!

Sounding official is hard ๐Ÿ˜…

Hope I convinced you to read this book ๐Ÿ˜

  1. I’d never heard of Ms. Bixby’s last day before so thanks for sharing about it. I love books that are relatable – and this one seems like it would be. My best friends from school were always my teachers because my disability would sometimes scare certain students away from me. I still email my teachers all the time and talk with them so I know what it’s like to have a really supportive teacher that you don’t want to let go. Also, I really like books from multiple different perspectives too [three sounds awesome!]

  2. Ooooh, I wanna read this now. Added to my TBR, maybe Iโ€™ll get to it in ten years. ๐Ÿ˜—
(What do you mean by a kotlc group chat post? Obviously, Iโ€™m down for anything kotlc, but idle what you mean)
